Does this really need an explanation? It generates power for you, which again, power is the only single resource that is used to upgrade anything. Be generous when building them, you can never have enough power! Again, make sure you put them next to BLUE fields and accumulators! It's always better to take down a Powerplant than having to build one up so better start building up if you been slacking off.
